GoDaddy

This tutorial will help you edit or create a new CNAME record for a domain that you are hosting with GoDaddy.com.

  1. 1.) Log in to your account on the godaddy.com web site

  2. 2.) Open the Domains tab/My Domains to access the Domain Manager page

  3. 3.) Select the domain that you would like to use to host your portfolio

  4. 4.) Click the "launch" link in the Total DNS Control domain information area

  5. 5.) Click "Quick Add" under the CNAME heading. If you've already have an existing CNAME record such as www, click the marker icon under the Actions column next to the existing CNAME record

  6. 6.) Enter an alias name that you would like to use such as portfolio or photography. This will be the subdomain that you point to your portfolio as in portfolio.yourname.com

  7. 7.) Enter “hosted.daportfolio.com” in the field marked points to hostname

  8. 8.) Leave the TTL value to the default selection and click "save zone file". You will now be able to see that your selected CNAME is pointing to hosted.daportfolio.com on the CNAMES list

  9. 9.) Your CNAME is now configured and should be pointing to your Portfolio. Please note that CNAME changes are not immediate and may take a few hours to propagate. You will still be able to view and edit your portfolio through the portfolio management page
