In my settings there is a Geographic coordinates section. What is this for? and how do I use it?

This section when filled out correctly will display a Nearby Deviants button situated next to the stats on the top right of your userpage. Clicking this will display all deviants who are registered with deviantART within 100 kilometers of your location.

In order for the nearby deviants feature to work, you will need to enter your details into the Geographic Coordinates section, located under the general section of your settings page. Once there click on the link "How do I find my location's latitude and longitude?", and follow the instructions listed.

Entering your details.

Firstly choose your country, then you can either enter your state, post code, full address or city. The more information you provide, the more likely you are to be found.

Retrieving your location

If your location was found, then this section will display your longitude and latitude numbers at the bottom, listed here as 51.8221 , -0.7957. These are the numbers which you need to enter into your geographic settings on deviantART. The first number should be entered into the latitude field, and the second number into the longitude field.

Using the Nearby Deviants feature.

This couldn't be easier, any member who has filled out his or her settings will be listed. If you wish to find out who is located near you, go to your userpage and click the Nearby Deviants button. A page will be displayed containing a list of deviants within a 100 kilometers of you, their avatars and the total amount of deviants will be visible along the top.

If you wish to see who is located near another member, then simply click the same button on that particular members userpage.
