Why am I having technical issues using the Chat Network?

Requirements for connecting to chatrooms

What is required to use the Chat Network varies. Please see your OS below for details:

Windows
You will need either Internet Explorer 5.5+, Mozilla Firefox 0.8+ or Mozilla 1.7+ and Flash 5.0+ or Java.

Linux/FreeBSD
You will need a recent Firefox or Mozilla with the Sun Java plugin version 1.4.2 or 5.0. Blackdown Java does NOT work.

Mac/OSX
Firefox users with Java 1.4.2 or higher will need the Java Embedding Plugin found [here] (Will NOT work on 10.4)
Safari users may also use the Unoffical Safari dAmn Fix that can be downloaded [here]


If you are having trouble accessing chatrooms, please make sure that your computer can connect to port 3900 (firewall or router setting).

Note: Zonealarm has been known to cause problems for dAmn.

Note: Parental Controls can block java/flash programs from running and will stop chatrooms from working.

I received ERROR message 128 what should I do?

How do I fix the display issues chatting with the Safari browser?

When using the Safari browser, messages appear delayed or there's a huge bar at the bottom preventing proper viewing of the chatroom.
