Are there any rules for the shoutbox?
Failure to adhere to these simple rules will result in a Shoutbox exclusion -
a sort of ban specific to the Shoutbox. If any infraction should be severe enough,
site administrators may be called upon to intervene, resulting in stiffer punishments.
The following actions are prohibited in the shoutbox
Flooding The Shoutbox
Flooding is defined as rapidly posting text to the Shoutbox to a disruptive level.
Flooding, whether it is done intentionally or unintentionally, is not tolerated.
Abusing/Attacking Other Deviants
Abusing or attacking other deviants is a violation of deviantART's etiquette policy.
Also note that one need not attack a specific person to be considered in violation
of that same policy: remarks characteristic of bigotry are also in dischord with
site etiquette and will be responded to appropriately.
Discussions of Criminal Activity
deviantART bears a certain level of liability for the content presented on its
website, and as such, discussions of criminal activity (such as software/media
pirating, drug use, suicide) is not allowed. Be mindful of the mixed audience
deviantART has and direct your conversations appropriately. If in doubt, ask a
Shoutbox moderator or site administrator.
Excessive Spamming
Spamming is a form of self-promotion wherein one posts a URL to one's own work
and openly solicits page views, comments, favorites, or other such interaction.
This is expected and permissibile to a certain extent. It is often frowned upon,
however, and excessive spamming will not be permitted.
Excessive Use Of Caps
In a medium where ideas are expressed primarily through text, all-caps messages
are the equivalent of shouting. This is extraordinarily annoying behavior and
will not be accepted in the Shoutbox.
Sexual Subject Matter
The discussion of sexual subject matter in the shoutbox is strictly prohibited.
Actions that may result in an exclusion from the Shoutbox are not necessarily
limited to the list above.
An exclusion from the Shoutbox may be either a temporary or an indefinate affair,
same as ordinary bans from the website. The extent of the exclusion will be proportional
to the infraction(s) that provoked the exclusion.
Shoutbox exclusions may be administered by site administrators members of the
MN@ Team (denoted by the @ symbol).
English Only
We would also ask that users use English in the shoutbox, to ensure that the shoutbox
is moderated fairly. Users who have difficulty speaking English, or prefer another
language, may wish to consider creating their own channel on dAmn.
